Painting the town mural.

LI: To design a mural for our community that connects to our culture.

For Reading we read ‘Painting the Town’ by by Renata Hopkins. This text was about how Christchurch has painted murals all over the city to bring back joy and courage to the city after the 2011 earthquake destroyed 80% of the CBD. My mural shows my own culture in some what way to the sun the palm trees and the beach.

Due to the earthquake in Christchurch, I think the murals were painted to bring back the happiness from the past couple of days, one more reason about why they did that is that so they can have the joy back in to the City. I really enjoyed doing this because it reminded me of my cuture and it helps me remember what happened to Christchurch.

Narrative Recording

LI: To understand how to create and share a story using our own ideas and digital tools.

This week in reading, my partner and I created our own story inspired by Fly by Night. Our story was about a young owl getting ready for its first flight and learning to be brave. We used our ideas to plan the story, then used AI with Gemini to help turn it into a storybook. We then put our story into a Google Slides and recorded ourselves reading it aloud. My partner and I took turns reading, which helped us practise our expression and confidence.

Summer Learning Journey.

Summer Learning Journey certificates.

LI: To celebrate our success.

Last week PBS had their Summer Learnig Journey celebration assembly. Mrs Grant came and presented our certificates and prizes. My certificate is for participating in the Summer Learning  Journney. The SLJ was a fun activity to do because it was intresting to learn about what or things operate or happen in mother nature. My favorite activity to do was making a new leg for Mosha because we get the chance to imagine how we would make a custom leg for Mosha because back when she was a very little being her leg was destroyed from a landmine. And that oppurtunity shows us how creative we can actually bewhen focused and ready.

Social Influence.

LI: To evaluate peer pressure, digital interactions and social influences.

For this task my partner and I made a DLO on how Social Influence and digital interactions affect us.

For digital interactions I and my partner found it intresting that most people mostly young users on social media are pressured  by peers or older users. in which we made a DLO to show what how people are lured into peer pressure.

Social influence is something intresting because how much it can affect the lives of people and the way they live. People try to copy many influencers on social media and it people try following trends except this can mess with their lives with many trends ending in disaster.

But i and my partner found this hard to do but we still made this DLO to show how things online operate and that it was quite intresting but also fun to do this with my partner.

Vision Board/Agent of change

LI: To create a vision board to help us visualize (see) what becoming an ´Agent of Change´ might look like.

Today we were challenged to make something called a vision board to help me reach my big goals achivements for this year 2026. Basically, it’s a board or a poster that I put images, words, and symbols on to show what i want to achive before heading to my journey in College. These images and words represent what I want to accomplish by that time. The idea is that seeing these things every day keeps me focused and inspired, reminding me of what I’m working toward. It’s like a visual map of my dreams and plans, so I don’t forget or lose track of them as time goes on.

Tech at Tamaki College 2026.

Tech at Tamaki College.

The rotation that I was in was sewing. I really liked sewing because it is a nice place to be if you just want to do something that is calming. our first sewing lesson for this term was getting back into basics with health and safety; we all got our own practice sheets to practice on to get us to get back on track on how to use the sewing machine and also how to be safe with the around the machines. But this time is different because we are making bags, we could make this bag  for some family or friends so that person that you are making the bag for they can  use the bag  for other things like going to the beach or going to the shops but before we could make everything we could write down 4 peoples name to make the bag for then you will chose what designs you will put on the bag for the person that you are making the bag for. Then after the design picking you can start by picking the color of fabric that you will use for the bag.

Dame Naida Glavish “The lady who said Kia Ora”.

LI: To summarize a text.

The lady who said “Kia Ora” her name was Dame Rangimarie Naida Glavish.

It was at Parliament where she was looked at everybody around her at she said the words Kia Ora to the people who did not understrand her and then others who looked disgusted by her greeting them with Kia ora instead of the words Greetings or Hello.

so Naida Glazish show’s other Maori’s that you are not to be afraid from using your language because people decide for you to not use it.

so after she has said it the Maori’s were starting to get their mana and pride back to show who actually owns Aotearoa.

Tech at Tamaki College.

today me and my class went to tech which is a education of experiencing many things at Tamaki College and we did many wonderful activities such as sewing, doing robotics, and many more. we had such an amazing adventure during our time at tech we were given tasks to do before we pack up at 10:50 and dismissed at 11:00. we had fun at tech and we also enjoyed the fun we were given by the teachers at Tamaki College.

Building class culture.

LI: To collaborate to create a piece of art

To create this DLO me and my 4 partners were to create this DLO to show how we present and how we tell other people about the story of the Polynesian Panthers.

The Polynesian Panthers was a group of protesters that formed because of the racism the police showed to them.

giving them alot of prejudice even raiding their houses at dawn also seperating them from families if the person’s visa has expired giving them no ownership of their house.

but some of the protesters decided they had enough giving the government a taste of their own medicine by raiding the house of man at dawn but that man is involved in raiding their houses at dawn.

so after many years of protesting they were given freedom from the dawn raids and its acknoledgement in august 2021.

Johnny Pohe DLO.

LI: To make an informed opinion

For this task Me and my group which is group 1 created a DLO based on the true events of Johnny Pohe and The Great Escape which took place in between September 1943 and March 1944.

and the story shows us what Johnny and the others used and how they escaped the prison which would of had probably taken care of them way better than the outside world where soldiers are desperately looking for after being told what their orders are.

We learnt that only 3 escaped the prison living their lives with the others passing away but it also tells how great of a man Johnny Pohe was for his bravery and hope believing that he and others could escape.
